Durham Kennel Club April 25, 2021

We went to Durham for a day to check out another outdoor event. The weather was beautiful and we even got a chance to lie in the grass while we waited. We got a 3rd Place Q on Standard. Ann had a hard time seeing the weaves so we have to go home and practice on the solid color weaves!

We got a 3rd place Q and 22 MACH points! YAY!
NQ on this run because she had to goooooo!!!!

Blue Ridge Agility Club March 27-28, 2021

We made the trek out to Pendleton, SC to trial in this giant place. We got 3 qualifying scores out of 9 runs. You can tell that she is showing her anxiety because she starts sniffing the ground. Still learning and coming back from COVID break!

This is my favorite photo of Ann from this trial. She’s such a diva.
NQ on this run!
Woo hoo Time 2 Beat Q!
NQ on this run. You can tell she’s starting to lose focus on this run…
Had to pick her up again. She was just not into it any more.
NQ on this run. I had to pick her up because she was not going to run and I didn’t want to stress her out.
New day, new run = Q! A little sloppy, but we’ll take it!
Yay another Q for Ann!
I’m learning that Ann does not appreciate being left alone all day. You can see that she is starting to show her anxiety on this run.
Sniffing the ground is one of the ways she shows her anxiety. She ran eventually but it took her a minute to get it together.

Aaaaand we’re back! (Well we’ve been back since like March, but I just haven’t updated my blog in a while…)

Charlotte Dog Training Club March 13-14, 2021

We took a year off from trialing due to COVID, but we felt comfortable enough trialing outside in March and this is the first run in a while. Well, we went to Youngsville in February, but the neighbors were shooting guns and it scared Ann to death and she wouldn’t run. Fun way to start back trialing. This trial was with the Charlotte Dog Trining Club. We got 3 qualifying runs out of the 7 runs we attempted that weekend. I think she did pretty well considering we hadn’t been in the ring in OVER a year!

Master Standard run. NQ on this run…
Master JWW 2nd Place Q!
We got a Q on this run!
Master JWW run. NQ on this run. She ran great but missed a jump at the end!
An example of Ann’s anxiety about being back in the ring after a year off. I’m so proud of her for sticking with me!

How to make a portable practice dog agility jump.

Because of COVID-19, Ann and I have not been able to train like we’ve been training, so I decided to figure out how to make portable jumps. We don’t have a yard, so we have to find open fields where we can set up quickly and take down quickly. These jumps are NOT regulation jumps, but they do the trick and are very light and portable!

My dad helped me cut the pic pipes.

Fayetteville Kennel Club, Sanford, NC February 29 to March 1, 2020

We got 6 qualifying scores out of 11 runs this weekend! No double-Qs yet, but we’re working on it. On Saturday, we got 3 out of 4 Qs! It would have been 4 for 4 except Ann missed one little thing!!! ARGGHHH! We had fun though and this was our 11th AKC trial, so we’re not complaining! We’re competing in the Master’s classes now!
Time 2 Beat. Friday, Feb 28, 2020 Perfect run. We got a Q!
NQ on this run because Ann went off course at the end.
NQ on this run because Ann went off course at the end, again. Still working on focus.
We finally got another Q this day! It was messy, but we’ll take it!
We got 4th place, but we’re only off by less than 10 seconds! We’re going to keep working at it!!!
Q on this first run of the morning. That’s why we do Time 2 Beat! We got 3rd place and 8 points and ran the course in 38.18 seconds!
We got a Q on this run, even though it was a wee bit messy. We got 30 MACH points even though we came in 4th place. Those dogs are fast!!!
We almost missed this Q, but we did it! Sometimes your dog does not go where you planned her to go and then you have to improvise on the run.
Ann went straight to Jump number 13, rather than Jump 3. Not sure what happened. We could have gotten a double-Q, but not this day!!!
No Q on this run. Mom came and Ann went to go look for her. Mom is still banned from coming to trials. You can see where Ann gets a whiff of her scent in the middle of the course.
We had to send Mom home. Ann then ran fine and we got a Q on this Master JWW run. We got 4th place and 14 MACH points.
No Q on this run and no double Q this day. Ann back-jumped the jump after the table, which was weird.

Piedmont Border Collie Association in Sanford, NC February 7-9, 2020

We finally leveled up to Masters STD with our final Q in Excellent STD this weekend! Got a Q in Master STD too! No double Qs yet, but we’re still working at it!
This was our Time 2 Beat run. We got 1st place and 10 points! She was a little distracted but I got her through. I had to call her off 2 jumps, but she went in the right side of the tunnel with my left hand cue, which was a big hooray for us!!
Master JWW run in the dark. The lights went out for about 2 hours because there was a lot of wind outside. Ann didn’t like the lights out.
Our first Premier STD Q!!! We stopped on the teeter, but had no time faults. YAY! We got 2nd Place.
TITLE RUN for Excellent STD. We got 1st place! NO start line stay, UGHHH.
Our first MASTER STD Q!!! We got 2nd place and 23 MACH points! No start line stay, but we’re working on it!
Premier JWW run. We didn’t Q. Boo.
Master JWW run. We didn’t Q, boo. She had an awesome run but stopped right before the last jump.
Time 2 Beat. Ann popped out of the weaves at the end. No Q. Boo.
Popped out of the weaves AGAIN.
First Q in Master STD! Didn’t place and got 12 MACH points!

Moore County KC Trial January 17-19, 2020 in Sanford, NC

We got 3 Qs in Time 2 Beat. One Q in Excellent JWW, which was our title run so we leveled up to Master JWW. Then, we got our first Q in Master JWW. We didn’t place, but we got 12 MACH points! We got the judge to dance with us in Time 2 Beat on Sunday’s run. Check it out!
Time 2 Beat. 8:42AM. We got 2nd Place and 9 points!

This was our 3rd Excellent JWW Q! We got 2nd place and moved up to Masters JWW!
Premier STD run. We didn’t Q, missed a couple obstacles. Still proud of my Ann.
Excellent STD run. No Q. It was 4:09PM.
Uncle Victor’s view of the Time 2 Beath run. Ann got a Q, 5 points, 4th place, and a visit with Uncle Victor.
Aunt Judith’s point of view of Time 2 Beat from January 18th.
Excellent STD run. She dropped a bar, which she never does and got a refusal called at the table. NQ on that run!
Premier JWW course. It could be the Excellent/Master one. I am not 100% sure. We didn’t Q.
This was our Time 2 Beat run from Sunday, January 19, 2020. Sometimes you can get the judge to dance with you! People were totally cheering Ann on in this one. Pretty funny. We made it in the nick of time! Third place and 4 points!
This was our first Master JWW Q! We didn’t place, but we got 12 MACH points!
The elusive last Excellent STD. This run wasn’t meant to be! There’s always next time!

Carolina Piedmont Agility, Raleigh, NC January 11-12, 2020

3 Qs and the Novice FAST title this weekend. Premier JWW, Novice FAST and Excellent JWW.

Ann is such a funny girl. On Saturday, January 11, 2020, we got a Premier JWW Q (1st Place) and we got a Q in Novice FAST, which was also our title run. We got NQ in Excellent JWW, Excellent STD, and Premier STD. Then, on Sunday, January 12, 2020, she ran the Premier JWW clean, but was 2.80 seconds over. She ran pretty fast but the course was pretty long. Then, we got a Q in Excellent JWW (our 2nd). Then in the afternoon, she completely had enough and didn’t want to play agility AT ALL. NQ on Premier STD, Excellent STD and Time 2 Beat! Time 2 Beat is one of her favorites!!! I guess it’s like people. Sometimes you feel like playing and sometimes you don’t!

We got a Q in Premier JWW! First place too!
Excellent JWW run on Saturday, January 11, 2020. We got an NQ because she missed the tunnel in the back corner.
Excellent STD Saturday January 11, 2020. We got NQ on this course.
Another NQ in Excellent STD. Saturday January 11, 2020 in Raleigh, NC. This is a second video taken for me.
This was our Premier STD run on Saturday, January 11, 2020. Didn’t Q. I think this was where she was getting tired of being in Raleigh.
Not pretty, but we got our Novice FAST title on this run! Saturday, January 11, 2020 Raleigh, NC.
We did not Q on this Premier JWW run, but I was so proud of it. We ran clean, but we were 2.8 seconds over time.
This is our second Excellent JWW Q!
Start of the end of Ann’s focus for this day. She was done playing agility.
Ann really was losing it here. Excellent STD run.
Ann was out to lunch from the very beginning of this run. She usually loves Time 2 Beat. She never stops in the weaves and never stops at the top of the A frame. Weird run altogether.
